Admission Process & Criteria in 2nd Year (Lateral Entry)

Admission through Lateral Entry in polytechnic 2nd year available only for Electrical Engineering Branch. such seats are limited to a maximum of 10% of previous year sanctioned intake plus for lapsed seats (vacant/cancelled) of the previous session of Polytechnic Diploma.

Eligibility for Diploma Admission

 

The admission eligibility criteria are as follows –

 

Domicile Rule


Polytechnic Diploma aspirants from Uttar Pradesh and outside UP can apply for JEE(Polytechnic) examination through Joint Entrance Examination Council (Polytechnic), Utter Pradesh (www.jeecup.nic.in), and are eligible for Polytechnic admission in Uttar Pradesh as:

  1. Resident of U.P. and passed the qualifying examination from school/Board/University in U.P.
  2. Resident of U.P. and passed the qualifying examination from school/Board/University from state other than U.P.
  3. Outside UP domicile students whose parents are working in U.P. (Central Govt. job) and passed the qualifying examination from school/Board/University in U.P.

are eligible for Polytechnic seat in Polytechnic colleges across the state.

The reservation policy of state government for Polytechnic admissions and Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is applicable to UP domicile students only. Outside UP domicile students are not eligible for the fee waiver scheme.

Academic Requirements

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business studies/Entrepreneurship (Any of the three)

OR
10th + (2 years ITI) with appropriate Trade in that order shall be eligible for admission to Second Year Diploma Course(s) of appropriate Programme. (The BTEUP offers suitable bridge courses such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering drawing, etc., for the students coming from diverse backgrounds to achieve desired learning outcomes of the programme)

There are two modes for admission available in polytechnic admission

 

1.Through Joint Entrance Examination Council (Polytechnic), Utter Pradesh (www.jeecup.nic.in).
Diploma seats are filled through JEECUP counselling on the basis of merit list of entrance examination conducted by JEECUP every year.

 

  1. Through Direct Admission under Management Quota/ Vacant Seats after counselling- As per the guidelines issued by BTEUP & JEECUP.
