The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” – Nelson Henderson.
As it’ is known to all that planting different kinds of trees make the environment green and beautiful, and even generate invigorating energy and positive vibes in Nature and human life. Keeping in view of the huge significance of trees in our life, a target was set to plant 30 crore trees on 22nd July, 2024 on the occasion of Van Mahotsav (1st July-7th July) and 5 crore trees on 15th August, 2024 by the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, under the campaign ‘Ped Lagao Ped Bachao Abhiyan 2024’, in order to decorate the land, specifically the highways of Uttar Pradesh. The programme was determined to be implemented at both micro and macro level.
In our eminent institute, Govt. Polytechnic Sarsai Rath, Hamirpur, as for the instructions of the joint director, Mr S K Singh (who inaugurated the programme on 14th July by planting the trees in the campus), a plantation programme was organized on 19th-20th July by the students, teaching and non-teaching staff collaboratively under the supervision of Dr Vandana Gupta, acting principal of the institute. Under the programme, the whole campus including: main building, Vivekanand block, both boys and girls hostels, playground and so on, was decorated with different varities of trees.
Thus, the objective, set by the government was tried to be accomplished by our institute but there is something more to do for which we, all the staff and students will try our best: and that is to protect and water the trees regularly, as Vangari Matthai remarks, “Until you dig a hole, you plant a tree, you water it and make it survive, you haven’t done a thing. You are just talking.”
